The Giving Tree

The Giving Tree is back and will be hung on the bulletin board across from the office.  The Giving Tree will be hung all year long for parents to take advantage of participating in this wonderful way of giving back to the teachers.

The PTA has asked each teacher to take inventory in their classroom and make a wish list of items they need to make their teaching experience — and the students’ learning experience — a better one!

The items they wish for will be written on leaves and hung around the tree.  The items can be something small such as dry erase markers or hand sanitizer to something larger like a small copier for their classroom or a digital camera.  The items can be donated as a group or individually, as holiday gifts, just because or to show your child’s teacher you appreciate them.  If there is an item you or your group would like to donate, just take the leaf off of the bulletin board.  When you purchase the item, please feel free to deliver the item to the teacher or classroom after school hours, or have your child bring it in and mention it is part of the Giving Tree.  You are always welcome to contact Wendy Weisse to make arrangements for the delivery.

The Giving Tree will be checked periodically throughout the year to keep teachers’ items up to date; as some leaves are taken from the tree they will be replaced with new items.  There may be times you could see repeat items as the teacher replenishes them, such as tissues, specialty paper, etc.

If you would like to make a monetary donation, please make your check payable to the WSPTA and write “Giving Tree” and your teacher’s name in the memo portion of your check.  If you are sending in cash, please write a note letting us know your donation is for the “Giving Tree” and what teacher.  Monies donated will be used toward the purchase of bigger ticket items.

Help the Wanaque Police help the Marines in Afghanistan

Capt. Ken Fackina, from the Wanaque Police Dept., will be collecting school supplies and children's clothing (gently used or new) for a US Marine group who is restoring Now Zed, a town in Afghanistan. The Marines have requested these items instead of stuff for themselves.

If you would like to donate anything please drop it off at the Wanaque Police Department, and tell them it is for Captain Fackina.

Thank you so much for your help!

Wanaque School is now officially registered with the Stop & Shop A+ BonusBucks program.

With A+ BonusBucks, points accrue with each purchase where the Stop & Shop Card is used. It even works with purchases made online with Peapod by Stop & Shop. At the end of each month, these points determine your school's cash total which is automatically credited to its account and school totals updated each month. (Please note: Gift cards, pharmacy, alcohol and/or cigarette purchases are excluded from accruing points.)

How It Works
A+ BonusBucks are rounded per transaction to the nearest whole dollar amount. At the end of each month, each school's dollar amount is determined which is then automatically credited to its account

How to Earn Extra Credit
Earn extra credit for your school when you use your Stop & Shop Card to purchase specially-marked products from these manufacturers (list changes weekly).
