Tricky Tray

Dear Friends of the Wanaque School Tricky Tray,

We are reaching out to parents for some helping hands this year.  Many parents who have worked the Tricky Tray have children who have graduated or have moved, so we need new faces and many hands to put together our largest fundraiser.

Currently we have some parents willing to take over the solicitation of the local businesses but they need help for five willing people to solicit the town businesses for donations. We do Wanaque,  Ringwood, Pompton Lakes, Oakland and reach as far as Riverdale. Also, we have been  looking for the person who would begin to hit the larger companies out there that require requesting donations by Internet. Soliciting isn't a  hard job; some people hate it and others were born for it. Are you that person? We need you!  Please contact Karen Branciforte at 973-616-7255 or email her at rotorooternj@cs.com if you are interested.  Maybe even you and a friend would like to do a town together. For any student in the upper grades who needs community service,  this is an opportunity for you and your child  to work together.

The next thing I would like to mention is the date: Saturday,  March 24, 2012, at Lakeland Regional High School East Gym. We are in need of runners, these people can be anyone. Got  a husband that owes you one -- we'll take him. Please contact Maryann Morgan at madimair@verizon.net. She is currently gathering as many men as she can to work the event. Sorry to say the list of helpers needed doesn't end there. As I  mentioned, many parents who were involved in the Tricky Tray have moved over to the high school level so we would love anyone who would like to work on a  Tricky Tray committee to contact Liz Burns and she will be happy to find  you a position in our many committees. You can text or call her at 973-650-2563.
If I still haven't given you enough places to volunteer, or you  are just not comfortable volunteering - then here's some other ways you can contribute to the Tricky Tray:
* Donate a basket - You know that Christmas gift you have no place for in your house -- turn it into a Tricky Tray donation basket,
* New items you have that you can donate -- bring them in. No used anything.
* Donate a basket in honor of your child,
* Ask your company if they will donate to our tricky Tray. Got  friends in business -- ask them for a donation.
* Please find some friends and attend the Tricky Tray.
Ticket are $15.00 for entrance fee and presale raffle tickets  are available for $40.00.

Sincerely,
The Tricky Tray Committee.

DID YOU KNOW?

  • On average, Americans replace their cell phones every 12 months.
  • Over 65 million cell phones are stockpiled in U.S. households creating 30,000 tons of potentially hazardous waste.
  • By 2005, an estimated 130 million cell phones will be discarded annually in the U.S. alone.
  • Cell phones contain toxic substances, including: Arsenic, Antimony, Beryllium, Cadmium, Copper, Lead, Nickel and Zinc, which leach into the soil and groundwater from landfills and form highly toxic dioxins and furans during incineration.
  • These toxins have been associated with cancer and a range of reproductive, neurological and developmental disorders.
  • The cadmium from a single cell phone is capable of polluting 158,200 gallons of water (That's 2.4 million 8-ounce sodas!)
